Welcome
This forum is locked: you cannot post, reply to, or edit topics. Welcome to Lurcher Link
The aim of this forum is to HELP LURCHERS IN DISTRESS.....and the purpose of Lurcher Link is to act as a point of contact for rescues, dog wardens, vets, stray centres and the public. Many Lurchers are destroyed each week because stray pounds are full and local rescues have no room to take any in. Yet in other parts of the country people are looking for Lurchers to rehome and because of this we act as a kind of "Dating Agency" for Lurchers, trying to find the right dog for the right family, from ANY rescue, to make space for other Lurchers to come into rescue and to save these dogs from being pts. We will also act as advisors to people who are newcomers to Lurchers; have behavioural problems with their dogs or just need someone to discuss problems with. We are a liberal bunch and this forum was created with freedom of speech in mind by people who love Lurchers and the Lurcher world and wish to make a difference to their fate. What we are is a motley collection of people who love Lurchers and because we love Lurchers we respect each other's viewpoints. We may not agree with each other but we don't seek to silence opposing viewpoints or insist that our way is the only one. Because of this we do have a lot of knowledge about living with and working Lurchers and running dogs and we do like to learn from each other. Oh and tell the odd joke or two. So welcome to the forum.

These are dogs in the care of other rescues, or being homed privately. IMPORTANT! (please note that as these dogs are NOT under our care, Lurcher Link is not responsible for any homing issues, and any support we do offer is on a voluntary basis)

No new posts Appeals for financial donations
Running a rescue is an expensive business at the best of times, but every now and again a really urgent case comes in which needs extra cash and sometimes that money can make a HUGE difference as to how the animal is treated. This section is for rescues to use when they have a really deserving case and desperately need help with vet bills. Please use this forum wisely and don't abuse it.

No new posts Lurcher Link Sponsor Dogs
We occaisionally take in dogs which need a lot of veterinary care and this can be a lifelong expense. Lurcher Link will undertake to pay any vet bills for a known, existing condition - eg: a broken leg - even if the dog then finds a home. Because of the nature of these injuries, we are starting up a sponsorship scheme for some selected dogs. There will be various types of sponsorships offered, hopefully people will find one they like and a dog who appeals especially to them...but please ask if there's something else you feel we could offer.

There aren't many specific Lurcher rescues in the country, but here are some contact details for them, plus others which are known to take in Lurchers as well.

No new posts Recommended Vets for Lurchers
Sometimes it's difficult to know which vet will be the best to treat your sighthound, as they do have some "differences" to other dogs. If you have a vet who you think is the bees knees and would like to recommend them, add them to the list here:
